Actor Song Joong-ki and his wife, Katie Louise Sounders, canceled their first public appearance together.
On the 24th, Song Joong Ki attended the official screening of the movie 'Hwarang' at the Palais des Festivals De Vichy Theater in Cannes, southern France, at 11 a.m. (local time). On this day, Song Joong-ki took selfies with fans and signed autographs.
Song Joong-ki's wife, Katie, was originally scheduled to attend the event, but she reportedly decided that some of the film's violent depictions were not appropriate as she was expecting a baby.
She also chose not to appear at the official red carpet event at 9:30 pm.
Despite not being able to attend the event, Song Joong Ki showed his love for his wife, saying in a press interview, "I came to Cannes with my wife. She's only a month away from giving birth, but your culture encourages pregnant women to walk and move more. Even though I'm at a film festival, my nerves are all over the place," he said.
Song Joong-ki came to Cannes when "Hwaran" was invited to the Palme d'Or in the "Notable Perspectives" section of the festival. "Hwaran" is a noir film about a boy named Yeon-gyu (Hong Sa-bin) who joins a gang after living a hellish life, and Song Joong-ki plays the gang's middle boss, Chi Gun.
After the world premiere, the movie received a four-minute standing ovation from an audience of about 1,000 people. "After watching the movie, I'm satisfied that my emotions are deeper than what I felt in the script, and I'm glad I did this movie," said Song Joong-ki.
