Veteran hip-hop trio Epik High will celebrate their 20th anniversary this year and have planned a celebration with fans.
Just about a week ago, Epik High brought laughter to fans with their epic "Barbie" inspired 20th-anniversary concert poster, and now they are bringing more laughs to fans with their new light stick design.
Any K-pop enthusiast knows that light sticks are an essential item for concerts when it comes to the K-pop idol world. Each K-pop idol group has uniquely designed light sticks that represent the group and their fandoms.
Now in its 20th year of activity, Epik High has yet to release an official light stick. The topic has been a recurring discussion between the group and their fans. In 2022, Tablo, a member of the trio, revealed he had conceptualized a light stick design for Epik High, envisioning it in the shape of a hand.
Later in April this year, Tablo revealed why this design was never developed into a real light stick. He shared through his social media, "When Epik High was at YG, they offered to make us a lightstick and we asked for one that looks like a middle finger. And that, my friends, is why we don’t have one."
Then, about half a year later, Tablo revealed a short video giving an update on the group's light stick design progress.
In the video, Mithra Jin shared, "The first prototype design of our lightstick has arrived. I'm going to edit it." As he was sharing this, he opened up the file and began scrolling down to show the design that Tablo had in mind over the years.
The design is a Mickey Mouse-type hand putting up the middle finger.
Mithra Jin added, "Look how cute it is," and Tablo chimed in, saying, "It's not even offensive."
Mithra Jin continued to explain the functions of the light stick enthusiastically and shared, "This thing lights up and during the performances, it changes colors."
Fans are becoming excited about this new design and are already taking to social media to share their enthusiasm as well.
