Offshore Music, a Manila-based independent label renowned for its avant-garde talent and emphasis on creative integrity, has formally introduced its newest crop of domestic musical acts for 2023.
Ely Buendia, CEO of Offshore Music, expressed his delight over the music label's acquisition of 10 new exceptional artists during the media conference for the label's artist introduction on October 12 last year.
Sony Music Philippines and The New Hue provided support for the launch, which was organized by Offshore Music.
The Astbury in Makati City hosted the thrilling event.
I applaud our new artists that we've signed. Very young, very passionate, willing to take that risk of sharing what they've worked hard for, their songs, their music, sharing it to the public, sharing it to you guys,” Ely shared to the media.
The ten new artists that Offshore Music has signed with are city pop group ALYSON, Baguio-based indie rock band Amateurish, rising alternative rock stars Her Name Is Noelle and Ligaya Escueta, bedroom pop soloist neytan, alt-R&B adventurers JDRX and CRISHA, funk/pop/groove band Mt. Lewis, folk/indie artist Bre, and psych-pop troubadour Elton Clark.
All of the newly signed artists expressed their appreciation to Offshore Music for believing in them and giving them the opportunity to develop as artists.
One of the reasons some of the musicians went into music is because they are major admirers of Ely Buendia and the Eraserheads, according to some of the artists.
“We are so much grateful for having us here. Sobrang laking milestone nito para sa amin, sobrang laking achievement lalo na mahirap gumalaw sa Pampanga. Together, there's no doubt that we'll keep moving mountains together,” Mt. Lewis said.
Meanwhile, Ely assured that the artists have full creative freedom when it comes to their artistry. As a musician himself, the vocalist expressed that he won't mess with their artists’ image.
“I mean, to me, as an artist myself, that's very important. That's really personal. So, kumbaga guidance lang kung kailangan nila, like we’ll probably suggest something,” he added.
A group of businessmen and musicians formed Offshore Music in 2016 to direct Filipino music toward musicians who could give the familiar sound a fresh spin.
