On October 18, the Busan Ilbo reported that Jimin, in August, donated 30 million KRW (~22,136 USD) as a scholarship fund to aspiring students at Busan Arts High School, where he was once a student.
The scholarship fund is aimed to support 28 students who have showcased excellence in varied fields such as dance, fine arts, and music or those who are financially challenged. The monetary aid is primarily intended to cover expenses such as lessons and attire purchases, among others, to aid the students in pursuing their dreams.
As an alumnus, he has been discreetly aiding his juniors since 2019, with an astonishing collective donation of 160 million KRW (~118,057 USD) to the institution. The donated funds have been strategically appropriated into three sections: talent-nurturing scholarships, aging facilities refurbishment, and equipment purchase for the dance, music, and fine arts departments.
This philanthropic gesture reveals Jimin's commitment to ensuring that all students have equal educational opportunities and a conducive environment for growth. Besides extending financial support to educationally disadvantaged students for their college entrance exam preparations, he has also provided a platform for talented juniors with limited chances to perform because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hearing about students facing abrupt financial difficulties because of COVID-19, Jimin provided scholarships as a form of support. His efforts seek to inspire students to keep striving toward their dreams.
In addition to supporting his alma mater juniors, Jimin also contributes to different community service activities. These include initiatives for fostering healthy independence in children under protective custody and enhancing living conditions for children in challenging environments during the post-COVID era. He donated a whopping 100 million KRW (~73,709 USD) towards these causes.
Furthermore, the superstar also donated 5 million KRW (~3,685 USD) to the Nambu District in Busan in August. His father operates a café in the district, serving as his connection to the area.
A Green Umbrella Children's Foundation representative expressed gratitude for Jimin and his father's commitment to community service. He added that they hoped Jimin's deep-felt wish to assist his juniors would reach them and assured that the Green Umbrella donation would be delivered with utmost care.
Following a substantial donation of 100 million KRW to the Green Noble Club in August, Jimin and his father were included in its 2021 list. The Green Noble Club comprises prolific donors contributing over 100 million KRW to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation. It is recognized that both Jimin and his father are active members, contributing largely towards societal enhancements.
Jimin's global fan base has also reciprocated his charitable spirit. They have donated a 10 million KRW (~7,375 USD) scholarship to Busan Arts High School, Jimin's alma mater, through the Green Umbrella Busan branch under his name. This has ushered in a new wave of giving, providing critical support to the community and cementing a virtuous cycle of giving in society.
