The 28th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) opened in Busan, South Korea on Oct. 4 with Korean and foreign stars in attendance.
Actress Park Eun-bin of the hit drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” hosted the opening ceremony.
Actor Lee Je-hoon of “Taxi Driver” was previously announced that he would join Park Eun-bin as an emcee but he had an emergency surgery for ischemic colitis, or inflammation of the colon.
The opening ceremony was held at the Busan Cinema Center, where stars, directors and VIPs in the entertainment industry walked down the red carpet for the ceremony.
“Despite the cool breeze of October, Busan is in a fever of excitement. I am a little bit nervous to be the first solo emcee at the BIFF. And the BIFF provides a huge opportunity and encourages filmmakers from Asia and beyond,” said Park Eun-bin.
During the opening ceremony, the Korean Cinema Award was presented to the late actress Yun Jung-hee, who made her debut in the 1960s.
Actor Chow Yun Fat also attended the ceremony and received the Asian Filmmaker of the Year award, given to an “Asian filmmaker who has made the most significant contribution to the advancement of the Asian film industry and culture throughout the year.”
