On February 7 KST, a heartwarming photo of Felix from Stray Kids surfaced online, showing him in Laos wearing a UNICEF T-shirt. It was revealed that Felix had traveled to Laos to participate in volunteer activities during his downtime. Despite his hectic schedule as a global artist, Felix quietly dedicated his free time to giving back to the community.
This act reflects Felix's sincere desire to help those in need, a sentiment he recently expressed in Stray Kids' content, where he mentioned his interest in doing volunteer work overseas if given the opportunity.
Felix's commitment to philanthropy is not new. On January 4 KST, he made a generous donation of 100 million won through the Korean Committee for UNICEF, earning him the distinction of being the youngest member ever of the UNICEF Honors Club and the first member in 2024.
The funds contributed by Felix were directed towards assisting children in Laos who are facing challenges related to clean water, sanitation, and nutrition. Laos struggles with access to safe drinking water, with only 18% of the population having access, and 33% of infants and young children suffering from stunted growth due to malnutrition and poor hygiene.
In a statement through the Korean Committee for UNICEF, Felix expressed his motivation for the donation, stating, "I wanted to share the love I've received by contributing to this cause. My hope is for the children of Laos to grow up healthy and thrive in a safer environment."
Cho Mi Jin, Secretary General of the Korean Committee for UNICEF, emphasized the significance of Felix's actions in spreading goodwill globally, especially to children in need. He expressed gratitude for Felix's compassionate gesture, describing it as a beacon of hope and encouragement for the children of Laos as they begin the new year.
