SM Entertainment's rookie boy group RIIZE is finally getting ready to release their official light stick and has revealed a preview before the official release.
On March 5, RIIZE shared a teaser featuring a shadow of a hand pointing upwards with the words "RIIZE Official Fanlight Coming Soon." According to the announcement made on social media platform X, RIIZE's official light stick will be released in April.
However, as soon as the light stick design was revealed, fans quickly took to social media to share their opinions and requested that the group change the design.
Some RIIZE fans pointed out that the design is very similar to a light stick belonging to another group. Epik High's light stick 'Park Kyu Bong' was released in November 2023 and is shaped like a hand holding up the middle finger.
Also, some have pointed out that RIIZE's light stick hand shape is a gesture used as an insult in some countries. In Japan, the hand gesture with the index and thumb pointed outward signifies "cursing" and is considered one of the hand gestures that should be avoided.
In the wake of the latest light stick design teaser, RIIZE fans are continuously raising concerns through SM Entertainment's 'KWANGYA 119,' which is a platform created for fans to report any issues to the label directly.
Many fans are also taking to social media and various online communities to express their dissatisfaction and shared comments such as "RIIZE light stick sucks," "This seems like plagiarism," "The design looks so weird and it is plagiarism. So they need to change the design right away," "Please change the design," "It just sucks," "That can cause controversy," "There's already a similar design and it's not that pretty," and "They have a Japanese member in the group. They should've considered the design more."
