BTS’s member Suga, recently donated 100.000.000 krw for emergency relief in the regions of syria and Türkiye that suffered great damage from the earthquake
"So many children and their families suffered great damage from this earthquake. I want to convey my condolences to the survivors and those affected by the disaster, and also send them a bit of hope" I hope,” Suga said.
Suga, whose birthday is on March 9th, has been constantly doing good deeds, such as donations to recover from forest fires in Gangwon and the east coast of Gyeongbuk, as well as donations for children cancer patients and residents affected by COVID-19. The donation for emergency relief in Türkiye and Syria will be used to purchase winter blankets, mattresses, and school supplies for children's needs in southern Türkiye and northern Syria through Save the Children.
Last February 6th, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake occurred in Türkiye and Syria, followed by another earthquake with magnitudes of 6.3 and 5.6 on the 20th and 27th, accumulating several damage from repeated aftershocks. In the ticks of concerns that the stress of repeated and continuous earthquakes will affect children's mental health, a strong psychological and social support for children's recovery is essential.
Save the Children, along with local partners, has provided humanitarian aid to 64,069 people in Türkiye and 119,812 people in Syria since the earthquake. We provided non-food items such as emergency shelters, heating supplies, hygiene products, clothing and blankets for children. We recently secured a 7,500m2 warehouse storage system in Gaziantep to ensure that goods and equipment will be distributed correctly . In addition, an emergency relief fundraising is underway for children and families affected by earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria.
