In an interview with overseas media, BTS' RM (real name Kim Nam-Joon) discussed art collections and K-pop.
An interview with RM was published in El Pais, Spain, on the 12th (local time). "Always Kendrick Lamar and Pharrell Williams," replied RM when asked, "Are you jealous of someone you admire?" “I want to be like them in the future, and that's why I don't paint." I can't be jealous of Picasso or Monet."
As a hobby, he collects art, and when asked, "Do you collect for investment?", he replied, "I assure you no.". If I wanted to invest, I would have bought works by unknown artists, women, and emerging Indonesian artists." We intend to open a small exhibition space within 10 years to provide a space for young artists who respect Korean heritage.
When asked if he was tired of having the 'K -' attached to K-pop and other genres, he said, "It can get tiring of calling us all 'K-pop' on Spotify, but it's very effective. This is because the K is like a guarantee of quality that our ancestors fought for and won."
A member of BTS since 2013, RM was born in 1994 and will be 29 years old in the fall. 'Indigo' was his first solo album, released last December.
