Following his departure from YG Entertainment, singer G-Dragon is set to embark on a new journey. Reports from the entertainment industry on December 5 KST indicate that G-Dragon is on the verge of finalizing an exclusive contract with Galaxy Corporation, a company specializing in intellectual property management and content production.
An industry insider revealed, "I understand that G-Dragon has reached an agreement on the details of his exclusive contract with Galaxy," and went on to mention that an official announcement will be forthcoming.
Founded on August 9, 2019, Galaxy Corporation primarily focuses on IP development and licensing but has expanded its reach into entertainment program production, talent management, and commerce through its subsidiary ventures.
Industry experts anticipate that Galaxy will significantly strengthen its presence by partnering with an iconic figure like G-Dragon, as his brand value can enhance the capabilities of the company, potentially involving the signing of other prominent celebrities and the development of idol groups.
G-Dragon's exclusive contract with YG Entertainment came to an end in June. In September, speculations arose regarding a potential transfer to Warner Music Group after an Instagram post showcased an electronic display board at the Warner Records Group office displaying the phrase 'WELCOMES G-DRAGON.' Last month, on November 29 KST, G-Dragon officially severed ties with YG by removing the link to YG's official website from his YouTube channel profile.
Inquiries about the contract timing were met with a non-committal response from Galaxy, stating, "There is nothing we can officially answer at the moment." They further mentioned, "It is difficult for the company to provide further details presently, but we will communicate when the time comes to make an official announcement."
