Lee Sun-bin is set to firm her position as the "Rom-Com Queen" with the upcoming tvN drama "Potato Research Institute," co-starring with Kang Tae-oh, who has just completed his military service.
The drama, which reunites writer Kim Ho-soo and director Kang Il-soo from the successful series "Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung," is a quirky romantic comedy set in a remote potato research institute.
In "Potato Research Institute," Lee Sun-bin will portray Kim Mi-kyung, a twelve-year veteran potato researcher. Although she might seem like a long-term unemployed person at first glance, once she opens her mouth, she spouts biological terms, dedicated to creating a superior potato named "Mi-kyung" through a secret project at the institute. Her character ends up falling for the institute's new director, So Baek-ho, played by Kang Tae-oh, despite vowing never to engage in an office romance again. The two start off on the wrong foot but gradually feel attracted to each other.
Kang Tae-oh, who recently completed his military service, will bring to life the character of So Baek-ho, who possesses a lethal smile, gentle voice, and divine visuals, reminiscent of a romantic novel's cover hero. However, Baek-ho is also an outsider with virtually no social life, friends, or courtesy.
Lee Sun-bin is awaiting the release of her films "The Sound of Breath," "College Scholastic Ability Test: The Secret of the Question Making," and "Noise." She was last seen in the Coupang Play series "Boys Over Flowers" and will also appear in the Wavve original series "Mission Possible." Kang Tae-oh, before enlisting, gained global popularity for his role in "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" and managed to mitigate the disappointment of his military hiatus with a special appearance in the movie "Target."
With both actors known for their immersive acting skills, anticipation is high for the unique chemistry they will showcase in "Potato Research Institute."
