Jisoo wrote a new history in K-pop by becoming the first Korean female soloist to record a first-week million seller.
YG Entertainment announced on April 4th that Jisoo's first solo album [ME], released on March 31st, sold more than 1.02 million copies (based on the Hanteo chart ). This is the highest Initial sales volume within a week after the release of the album for a single album by a female solo artist in Korea.
On the first day of release, it sold 870,000 copies and quickly changed the first and best modifier for a K-pop female solo, exceeding 1 million copies in about 4 days. As it has been less than a week since its release, the final Initial weekly record is expected to increase further.
With this, Jisoo became the first K-pop female solo singer to have million-selling records for both Blackpoing and as a soloist.
Her new record was predicted early. [ME] showed signs of unusual popularity, surpassing 950,000 pre-orders in about two weeks (as of March 20) after pre-orders began, and 1.31 million in three weeks.
Not only the album but also the music score is strong. The title song "FLOWER" topped the iTunes Top Song Chart in 63 countries, including the United States, and then reached the top of the Worldwide Chart. She entered 6th place on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, the highest ranking for a K-pop female solo artist, and maintains the top spot on major music charts in Korea.
As soon as the music video for "FLOWER" was released, it went straight to #1 on YouTube's worldwide trending chart, and immediately took the top spot for "Most Viewed Video in 24 Hours". Due to the steep upward trend, the number of views has now exceeded 76.8 million.
Jisoo's first solo album [ME] contains the dual meaning of the unique color of herself (ME), her natural beauty (美) reborn as a solo artist.
